I would know the autumnal season is here even if I never took my eyes off this computer screen...because so many bloggers are posting "Fall" pictures. LOL
Really, Fall just makes me wistful...in preparation for being really depressed when Winter.in.Iowa is here. I'm just warning you. Until then, enjoy your Fall.

Things I learned at work this week
Things I so don't need to know at work:
However, I did enjoy the gossip session where a couple of youhated hashed over some office issues. Some things I do just need to know. And who loved last night's season opening of "The Office" tv show all about office rumors and gossip? One of my favorite "Office" episodes was "Cafe Disco". Wish we had a "Cafe Disco" in our office.....
- the gory details of your child's oral surgery
- the revolting details of what your pet left on the carpet this week
- a status report on the state of the mold growing on stuff that's been left in the office fridge too long
- the disgusting details of your shoe orthotics issue, complete with show-and-tell
- your weekend plans for a roller derby tournament, clarinet jam session, casino crawl, or model airplane marathon (you thought your co-workers were eccentric, eh?)

What's pretty in purple?
I cut some of the last of my lavender stems and a spray of my favorite harebell campanula rotundifolia. I put them in an old glass pitcher that used to belong to my grandmother, not sure if it was my maternal or paternal grandmother...and there are no family members left that would remember now. *sigh*
Anyway, I brought the bouquet to work, and it's lovely on my desk, which is an ugly mess otherwise. *sigh* Can you tell I get moody and wistful when it's fall?

Is your Saturday like this?
Why is every single one of my Saturdays the same, over and over? I suppose because I work all week and Saturday is the first chance to do all the errands that one needs to do in a week. Every Saturday I think "Just a quick trip to one store and that's it; I am enjoying the rest of the day." But no.....never happens.
First thing Saturday morning we go to the local Farmer's Market...when it's summer...remember I'm in Iowa...no Farmer's Market in the winter. I love the Farmer's Market, and supporting the local small farmers and bakers and crafters, etc, but parking is a hassle and you have to walk blocks to get there...which I don't mind...except when we are walking back to our car with about 20 pounds of produce, and trying to keep the potatoes and squash from squishing onto the artisan-baked breads.
Then it's off to a grocery store...and of course...one grocery store carries some of the stuff I want/like, but not everything...so it's off to another grocery store. And now grocery stores carry OTC meds, and shampoo, and toothbrushes and whatever, but no...the grocery stores are out of my favorite brand...or the size, or flavor, or scent, which means a trip to the drugstore...where I get sidetracked looking at makeup...and see there's a style of eye shadow that I'm interested in...but they are out of the "chai latte" color palette...so I go to another drugstore...and that drugstore doesn't have the "chai latte" shadow either, so I end up buying window cleaner and toothpaste and calcium supplements.....and then I'm finally home and @#*!.....I forgot to buy the body lotion that I am out of.....and body lotion was on my shopping list and that's why I went to the drugstore in the first place.
And now it's Sunday and I don't know whether to go back to a drugstore and look for body lotion or just kill myself.....

September 11, 2001
Just a quiet moment today to remember that day. I arrived at work on September 11, 2001, to hear my co-workers whispering frantically "Something's happening; check the online news sites." We spent the rest of the day hardly working, stunned by the horrifying videos streaming across our computer screens.
All those people...coming to their jobs that day, or boarding airplanes, ...not knowing the tragic fate that awaited them. As I sit here at my desk, sipping tea, surrounded by work and clutter.....I will be silent for a moment. No whining, no political commentary, just "I remember that you were here on earth - and loved; you aren't forgotten."
I bookmarked this site, and meant to come back and sign up. I didn't - my bad. Blessings to those who followed through with a remembrance blog.

Random Wednesday whinyness
Holy crap, it is still sooo busy at work. And not the good kind of busy where you have a little project to do...and then it's done...and then you start another little project. Nooo, this is the kind of "We need to get together on this and get it done"....meaning that someone else will want to get together with me when they have free time and I am really busy...and now I have to drop everything when someone else has free time and I don't. Feh!
Today is the 9th day of the 9th month of the year 2009. *9/9/09* I'm not a numerologist or anything; I just like the number 9. Let me know if you're a numerologist and you know this fondness for #9 makes me weird or something, ok? And no, I am not stupid enough to tell you all that I like #9 and then make all my passwords 99999.....
I am, however, stupid enough to play with all my Blogger/Google settings and make myself a public follower of some of you, and join Google Friend Connect...i think...not really sure what all I've done or joined. But I'm not stalking anybody or anything - really - I'm way too busy working and haven't had enough time to even read all my favorite blogs lately. So if you see me connect and disconnect, or whatever, from your blogs or social networks, or whatever.....pay no attention. But please let me know how you all find time for all that friendliness and networking and all...I pretty much don't even speak to anyone till 9:00 am...which makes me a real beyotch in the office first thing in the morning.

Labor Day conundrum
Happy Labor Day, everyone! If you are like me, I image you are working your ass off today.....because you have the day off from your office job.....and you are catching up on all the house/yard work.....that you have been too busy to do because you have been too busy at your office job!
Here at Casa de la Wheel we have been washing windows, dusting the cobwebs out of the high places that require a stepstool to reach, cleaning out closets, exchanging the spring wreaths and flower decor for fall wreaths, paper-mache pumpkins, and whatnot...and today is yardwork day. We will have to go back to our office jobs for a chance to sit down. I'm not really a "sitter" type anyway, but Meester is, and he is getting way too much of a workout for his taste.

My week - so far
Ok, I knew this was going to be another week of hell in the office...and I know I tend to be too pissy beyotchy whiny negative...so let's see if I can do a balanced report on my week - so far.
Monday
Equal Exchange - my "go-to" tea at work. Good for the planet, good for small farmers, and good for me! Sweet Riot rocks! I discovered these at Fox & Obel Market in Chicago, just in time for this week!!! You know how I loves the dark chocolate!
Monday
- First thing at work...get the dreaded "Your password has expired" message. $#*!
- A co-worker brought cookies for the office. Yay!
- Pestered with e-mail requests for assistance throughout my lunch hour. That's what happens when you spend lunchtime at your desk.
- Got one project completed.
- A project I thought was complete...now certain people(higher than me)...want to revise the project scope, alter parameters, etc. Grrrrr......
- Had these good things to get me through the week.
